The Guiding Principles of CIMS are to:
Safeguard the values and continuity of the Coalition
Ensure credibility -- our ability to deliver on our promises
Ensure autonomy -- make sure our identity remains intact
Maintain our unity of purpose
Ensure the economic viability of the Coalition
Establish and maintain a public presence
Remain open and responsive to the Coalition
Be guided by our mission as stated in the Mother-Friendly Childbirth Initiative
Function with integrity and accountability
Remain flexible and open to all possibilities
Maintain diversity
